The French Lenards are a rock n roll band. The Lenards formed in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1980’s and continued playing through the early 1990’s. They played the Cleveland circuit heavily as well as Columbus, Chicago, Lexington KY., Athens, Warren, Canton, Kent, and Youngstown. Originally a blues-based rock band with a horn section their high-energy style can be heard on their early recordings including the full-length releases “After Saturday Night” and “Relations.” The band also added tracks to several Cleveland-based compilation albums, including their hit song “Rusty Old Cadillac.” As lives and careers changed the band members went their separate ways only to reunite by chance in 2016.
Today’s Lenards include founding member Tom Jares (vocals and guitars) with Michael Scherma (saxophones) Jerry Gavlak (drums) and Rick Wager (vocals and bass). Since their rebirth, the band has issued a full-length release of new material entitled “2020.” Currently, the Lenards are poised to release a group of EP’s over the course of 2024. The first of these, “Under A Darkened Sky” was released in February 2024 with several more to come. These can be found on any streaming platform including YouTube, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and many others.
The Lenards are indebted to their friends and families who have been continuous in their generous support over the years. Lastly, The Lenards would like to thank Jim Sheridan and JRS Sound for their steadfast sound and lighting expertise since the 1980’s.
